What is "Sinology"?
Strictly speaking, Sinology is the academic study of Chinese language and culture. It sounds serious, doesn't it?
At Sinology Studio Perth, we take a different approach. To us, Sinology isn't just about studying history from a textbook; it’s about feeling it with your hands. It’s the glide of a brush, the logic of a knot, and the pigment of a painting. We strip away the intimidation of ancient art forms to make them accessible, functional, and deeply personal.
The Origin
Sinology Studio began as a collaboration between myself and two co-founders, Jing and Julia. It brings the timeless charm of Chinese aesthetics into everyday life. Through artisan jewellery, accessories and cultural blogs, we bring together time-honoured techniques, meaningful motifs and modern style grounded in heritage.
As as a continuation of the original Sinology Studio, we started the Perth Chapter making Chinese culture more accessible, meaningful, and beautifully hands-on.
It started simply from weekly workshops at St. Catherine's College, UWA. These sessions became a ritual for residents and students, a way to disconnect from digital stress and recharge through creativity.
Seeing students from all over the world connect with Chinese traditions confirmed one thing: you don’t need to be an artist or a historian to find joy in these techniques. You just need curiosity.

Meet the Founders
Hi, I'm Angel, I have always been passionate about bridging the gap between complex cultural heritage and everyday life.
For me, the greatest inspiration comes from watching a participant take a technique that is thousands of years old and apply it in a way I never expected. My role is to guide you through the history, share you the story of technique, and then step back to let your creativity flow.
